Leroy roads resurfaced!
A paving crew was at work putting down asphalt on Batley Road in Leroy Monday much to the delight of many Leroy residents. The nearby Lower Ferry Road that intersects with Batley Road has also been paved. Heavy traffic from the recent natural gas pipeline construction and storm debris removal had significantly deteriorated the roads.
Ex-Sheriff Ray Norris’ federal sentencing put off until March 20
The federal court sentencing of former Clarke County Sheriff Ray Norris has been postponed for the second time. Norris was scheduled to be sentenced Monday, Feb. 27, by Chief U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Beaverstock in the federal courthouse in Mobile. Norris pleaded guilty last fall to one count of using bank loan funds for purposes not specified on the loan. […]
Wash. Co. Grand Jury indicts couple for stealing from Wagarville Fire Dept.
A husband and wife who served as chief of the Wagarville Volunteer Fire Department and its secretary, respectively, have been indicted for theft and misuse of $21,500 of the department’s monies.
