The Jackson Woman’s Club gathered Tuesday, April 19, at the Kimbell House in Jackson to announce the recipients of several annual awards. The meeting began with President Marsha Beard opening with the Club Prayer.
Club member Diane Perkins welcomed guests and introduced the award recipients.
Trista Stout-Walker provided information about the Woman’s Club Award that was presented to Telly Nguyen of Jackson High School.
The Lillian P. Andrews Award history and information were provided by Barbara Hundley. The award was received by Telly Nguyen of JHS and Isabel Harrell of Jackson Academy.
Gretchen McCorquodale explained the background of the Betty McCrary McCorquodale Award. Ashauni Jackson of JHS was the recipient.
Finally, Helen Skipper spoke about the Catherine Gaynor Skipper Creativity Award that was received by Kregg Horn of JHS and Kellie Lewis of JA.
Following the awards presentation, there was a brief meeting including a treasurer’s report by Fay Cooper and the annual nomination of club officers.
The nominations were as follows: Beth Callahan, president; Reta Galbraith, vice president; Renee Smith, recording secretary; Diane Perkins, reporter/custodian; Cheryl Lathan, treasurer; Edna Stewart corresponding secretary; and Barbara Hundley, parliamentarian. A motion was made by Marsha Beard to accept the nominations and the motion was approved.
Hostesses for the meeting were Edna Stewart, Barbara Hundley, Diane Perkins and Jan South.
