Winston David Horton Sr.


Winston David Horton Sr., 90, of Jackson, passed away Dec. 30, 2018 at Jackson Health Care Facility in Jackson. He was born Feb. 21, 1928 to Glover W Horton Sr. and Gwendolyn Finch Horton. A member of McCanns United Methodist Church, he had been employed as a maintenance supervisor at Boise Cascade. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and Alabama football. He was also a passionate motorcycle enthusiast.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lennette B. Horton; sons, Bernard Wade Horton and Michael Horton; and siblings, Glover W. Horton Jr., Louise H. Johnston and Jeannette H. Booth.

He is survived by his children, Diane (Buddy) Perkins, Judy Hudson and David (Rebecca) Horton; grandchildren, Thea (Billy) Wiggins, Freya (Billy) Biggers, Gunnar Hudson Jr., Katie Hudson, Rachel Horton and Haley Horton; greatgrandchildren, Will Wiggins, Rush Wiggins, Kalin Diane (Toby) Roach and Carter Biggers; and siblings, Polly H. Johnson, Faye H. Bumpers and Pam H. Ryser.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, Dec. 31, at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson, with the Rev. Earl Watson officiating. Interment followed at Trinity Memorial Gardens with Lathan Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers were Gunnar Hudson Jr., Will Wiggins, Rush Wiggins, Carter Biggers, John Johnson and Dwight Johnson.
