Perry Martin

Perry Martin, better known as “45” to family and friends, made his earthly transition Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, while at University Hospital in Mobile. He was born Oct. 30, 1962 to Everlean Chapman Martin and Willie Martin.

Perry was a resident of the Mt. Zion community of Grove Hill. He was an avid Alabama and Dallas Cowboys fan, loved to grill, fish and hang out with his beloved family. He was a member of the Clarke County High School Class of 1983.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Frankie Martin Edgar; and a brother, Coma Chapman.

Left to cherish his loving memories is his wife, Melody; three daughters, Alaina (Lawrence) James of Huntsville, Ebony (Kendal) Foxx and Utara Hughes, both of Mobile; five grandchildren, Skyla, Parker, Cannon, Kennedy and Wyatt; three sisters, Gracie Gamble of Mobile, Gardenia Frazier and Emma Raine, both of Grove Hill; two brothers, Archie (Ethel) Chapman of Cincinnati, Ohio and Enoch Martin of Grove Hill; with a host of nieces, nephews and devoted nephews, Jonas Martin and Reginald Martin; devoted best friend, Devan Chapman; devoted cousin, James “Buddy” Dickinson; one aunt, Irma Martin; four sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law, one devoted, Edward English; other relatives and friends.

Services were Saturday, Aug. 19, with viewing from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral hour at Clarke County High School auditorium, 151 S. Court Street in Grove Hill. Interment followed in the Mt. Zion No. 2 Baptist Church Cemetery in Grove Hill.

Final life celebration has been entrusted to Jackson Memorial Funeral Home.
