Surrounded by beautiful flowers, showered with cards and in the company of her children and grandchildren (virtually and in person), Mrs. Annie Parker, a resident of Jackson, celebrated her 103rd birthday on Jan. 7, 2022. She was born Jan. 7, 1919, the second of eight children born to Agnes and Thomas “Tom” Pugh of Winn. Miss Annie was married to the late Mr. Woodie Parker Sr. for more than 52 years before his passing in May 1992.

Mrs. Parker is a loving and proud mother to six children: Jerry (Faye) Parker, Floresteen (Richard) Smith, Jessye Parker, Woodie Parker Jr., Diane (Dwayne) Murray and Janice (Ronnie) Dunn; grandmother and great-grandmother to seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Miss Annie is also a loving and proud non-biological mother to Carolyn and John “Bubba” Jackson.

In life, one can choose to be happy, or one can choose to be miserable. Miss Annie’s family is so blessed that she still chooses to be happy; continuously living an exemplary life of strength and positivity.
