This the first time since 2007 that the Millry Wildcats have made it to the third round of the AHSAA playoffs.

Millry Coach Shane Hendry said, “Our kids prepared well against a very athletic and very good Loachapoka football team. We came out and scored on the first drive and again our second quarter we get things rolling as we figure things out defensively with their speed, but once we did it was pretty good for the Wildcats.

“When you have a staff with the experience that this staff has and Coach Larry Boykin can adjust with the best of them. The coaching staff I have is not a one-man show.”

The game started off fast for both teams as Millry scored first and Loachapoka came right back and answered. Penalties hurt Loachapoka and cost them one touchdown.

Millry jumped on top quickly with a 44-yard touchdown run by Daylon Edmunds and Zach Jenkins made the kick to make it 7- 0.

In the third quarter, Eli Adams scored on a sixyard run. Holyfield kicked the PAT to make it 56-6.

Loachapoka scored on a 16-yard pass play and cut the Millry lead to 56-12 in the fourth quarter. The twopoint play failed.

Millry plays next at Sweet Water High School on Friday, November 18 at 7 p.m. in the third round of the AHSAA Class 1A playoffs.

“Not very many teams have defeated Sweet Water in Sweet Water in the playoffs. It’s a tough place to play, but we are ready for the challenge and I am proud of our guys,” said Coach Shane Hendry.
