Luther Indwood Parden

Luther Indwood Parden, age 91, of Grove Hill, died May 14, 2023 at Jackson Medical Center. He was born Sept. 26, 1931 in Coffeeville to Henry Savage and Ruthie Lillian Parden.

Luther was a retired service technician with Parden Gas. A U.S. Army veteran, he served in the 64th tank battalion during the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of Witch Creek Baptist Church and a member of VFW Post 5106.

Luther is survived by his wife, Ethel Marion “Mae” Loper Parden; two sons, Larry Parden and Garry Parden; four brothers, Earnest Quitman Parden, Wilbur Grey Parden, William Lundy Parden and Louie Parden; four sisters, Dorothy Parden Newton, Juanice Parden Price, Faye Parden Mooneyhand and Kaye Parden Smalley; five grandchildren, 15 greatgrandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Henry Savage “Jim” Parden and Ruthie Lillian Howell Parden; two brothers, Gettys Parden and Donnie Parden; and sister, Evelyn Parden.

Funeral services were held at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 17, 11 a.m., with the Rev. David Curtis and the Rev. Leon Harrison officiating. Burial followed at Witch Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Jeremy Parden, Bradley Parden, Ty Parden, Matthew Younge, Wayne Dozier and Kelly Harrell. Honorary pallbearers include Robert Hutto, James Newton, Bobby Powell, Billy Mullins, Bob Chaney and Doug Parnell
