Mrs. Lavay F. Hutto, 88, of Chatom, passed from this life Sunday, April 24, 2022 at Brookwood Villa Personal Care Home in Waynesboro, Miss. She was born in Chatom on Thursday, April 19, 1934 to Willie Ferguson and Glossie Lee Ferguson. She was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church of Chatom. She retired as an agent with Farmers Home Administration (FHA).

Mrs. Hutto is preceded in death by her husband, William I. Hutto; father, Willie Ferguson; mother, Glossie Lee Ferguson Dennis.

She is survived by her son, Derek Hutto (Susan) of Waynesboro, Miss.; brother, Jimmy D. Ferguson (Katie) of Yarbo; two sisters, Patsy Amacker of Kansas City, Mo., and Kay Boler of Yarbo; five grandchildren, Johnathan Hutto (Nora) of Gilbertown, Jessica Grana (Nick) of Chatom, Jarred Hutto (Emily) of Wagarville, Elliot Cassell of Waynesboro, Miss., and Evan Cassell (Ashley) of Hattiesburg, Miss.; nine great-grandchildren, John Derek Hutto, Carleigh Hutto, Kylie Singleton, Emma Hutto, Lallie Hutto, Briggs Chancey, Leah Chancey, Olivia Cassell and Luca Cassell.

Visitation for Mrs. Hutto was from 9 until 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 27, at Spring Hill Baptist Church, 1544 Carpenter Road, Chatom, AL. Funeral Services were at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 27, at Spring Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jesse Griffith and the Rev. Jody Smith officiating. Interment was in Reynolds Holiness Church Cemetery, 21571 Highway 17, Chatom, AL.
