Lady Eagles bow out of AISA state tourney



The Jackson Academy Lady Eagles lost to Crenshaw Christian Academy 2-0 and Cornerstone Christian Academy 12-2 on Thursday in the AISA State Tournament in Montgomery to drop to 10-19 and bring their season to an end.

In game one of the state tournament, both teams were strong in the circle, but Crenshaw Christian Academy was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over Jackson Academy. Kayleigh Jones started the game for JA and recorded 18 outs.

A single by Madeline Dailey in the fourth inning was a positive for Jackson Academy.

Jones took the loss for Jackson Academy. She lasted six innings, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out two.

Dailey went 1-for-3 at the plate to lead Jackson Academy in hits.

In game two it was a tough day for Jackson Academy, losing 12-2 to Cornerstone Christian.

Jackson Academy opened up scoring in the first inning, when an error scored one run for JA.

Cornerstone Christian evened things up at 1 in the bottom of the first inning. Earley drew a walk, scoring one run.

Cornerstone Christian pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning and then six runs in the fourth inning.

Jones was in the circle for Jackson Academy. She surrendered 10 runs on four hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three. Sydni Andrews threw one inning in relief.

Andrews led Jackson Academy with one hit in one at bat.
