The Leroy High School Lady Bears went undefeated in their area and won the right to host the area tournament by defeating McIntosh High School on Tuesday night on the road 54-29.

The Lady Bears came out the gate smoking hot and took a fast eight-point lead and led 15-8 to start the second quarter. The Lady Demons fought back and outscored Leroy 12-9 in the second quarter, but trailed 24-20 at halftime.

In the third quarter the Lady Bears’ defense was picking off passes, blocking shots and disrupting the Lady Demons’ offense every way they could, holding McIntosh to just two points while scoring 19 for Leroy. Leroy led 43- 22 to start the fourth quarter.

In the fourth quarter Leroy outscored McIntosh 11-9 to win 54-29.

Leroy improved to 10-6 on the season and 4-0 in area play. McIntosh dropped to 5-8 on the season and 2-2 in area play.

For Leroy, Chauncey Dixon had 22 points, Makayla Payne had 14 and Kayley Weaver had 12. For McIntosh, Zoie Miller had eight points.
