Janelle Jordan Criswell, age 87, of Jackson, died April 3, 2022. She was born on Oct. 6, 1934 in Dixons Mills to Wyatt Franklin Jordan and Ollie Mae Jordan. Janelle grew up in Lamison with five siblings. She married Wilfred Franklin Criswell on Nov. 18, 1953 in Angola, Ind., and was happily married for 63 years. They later resided in Jackson and started their business, Frank’s Body Shop, and raised three children. She was a member of Stave Creek Baptist Church and worked at Frank’s Body Shop as a secretary for many years.
Janelle enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed shopping trips to Mobile with family.
She is survived by her son, Robbie Criswell (Sherry); two daughters, Debbie Rogers (W.C.) and Roxie Powell (Robert); sister, Wilene Autrey (Tim); five grandchildren, Will Sapp, Leighann Sapp, Chase Criswell (Jenny), Kayla Powell Beard (Dent) and Carey Powell (Alex); eight great-grandchildren, Max Criswell, Cayson Criswell, John Colby Foster, Trevor Sapp, Conner Sapp, Blaise Beard, Weslan Powell and Tessa Powell .
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred Franklin Criswell; grandson, Lance Criswell; parents, Wyatt Franklin and Ollie Mae Jordan; two sisters, Betty Shields and Jerry Ledbetter; and two brothers, M.C. Jordan and Bennie Clyde Jordan.
A graveside funeral service was held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Pine Hill, Thursday, April 7, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Jeff Copeland and Bro. Wesley Hicks officiating and soloist, Jenny Clark.
Active pallbearers were Chase Criswell, Carey Powell, Dent Beard, Carlos Elrod, Buddy Jordan, and Robbie Criswell.
