James Keith Ezell Sr., a resident of Jackson, made his earthly transition on Dec. 7, 2021 at the Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, Ind. He was born Sept. 25, 1971 to Gloria Robinson Ezell and Sim Ezell. Early in life, he was a member of Jackson AOH Church of God. A 1991 graduate of Jackson High School, he was a star football player.
James was an avid Alabama fan, he loved to sing and participate in family gatherings, as well as hanging with his friends. He and his wife have enjoyed traveling together, while traveling for his job.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and brothers, Vincent Ezell and Jarries Ezell.
Left to cherish his memories is his loving wife, Aurillia “Ree Ree” Lechelle Ezell of Jackson; sons, Jacoby (Gioga) Ezell, Andre (DeAsia) Ezell, James Keith Ezell Jr., Thomas J. Ezell and stepson, Tyrese Jones, all of Jackson, and Ladarrius Foxx of Austin, Texas; daughters, Kayla Brooks and Shawncora Felts, both of Houston, Texas; 15 grandchildren, J’dyn Ezell, Jacoby Ezell Jr., Jordan Ezell, J’kaislee Ezell, Joidyn Ezell, JaKaida Ezell, Lakyn Ezell, Dylan Andre Ezell, Coreyuan Felt, Christian Pipkin, Christopher Pipkin, LaDarrius Foxx Jr., Arkaidia Jackson, Arkema Jackson and Selia Foxx; two brothers, Michael Ezell of Milton, Fla. and Patrick Ezell of Grove Hill; sisters, Cynthia Ezell Kidd and Sandra Coleman, both of Jackson; uncle, Johnnie (Norma) Ezell of Jackson; aunts, Marzell House, Sharon Tiggs and Pearlean Norwood, all of Jackson, Charlene (Bishop W.C.) Curry of Mobile and Jackie Johnson of Lena, Miss.; mother-in-law, Dolfinette Hurd and father-inlaw, Sylvester Bryant, both of Jackson; sisters-in-law, Carmin Bryant, Kayla Bryant and Miriam Bryant; god-children, Kourtland Coleman, Meaunte Robinson, Keta Barnes, Rochelle Wiltz and Lamar Boman; with devoted friends, Jerel Foreman, Doug Yelder, Michael Williams, Eddie Williams, Tony Johnson, Andy Lang and Derrick Bracy.
Public viewing will be Friday, Dec. 17, from 2 until 6 p.m., at Jackson Memorial Funeral Home, 203 East Ross St., Jackson, AL. 36545. Service will be Saturday, Dec. 18, 1 p.m., at the Jackson High School auditorium, 321 Stanley Drive, Jackson. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery, 1076 Center St., Jackson.
