James Bailey

James Bailey, “Jim” or “JW,” a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on May 5, 2023 at the age of 86. Jim loved God, the First Presbyterian Church, his family and many friends. He enjoyed gardening, Alabama football, fishing, and riding his tractor. He graduated from Frisco City High School and graduated from Livingston University before working at and retiring from Ciba-Geigy.

He was born on Sept. 14, 1936 to Lyda Dunn Bailey and Burrel Bailey Sr.

Jim is survived by his wife of three years, Jarilyn Bailey; his children, daughter, Robbie Bailey Harrison, and sons, James W. Bailey Jr. (Kim), Christopher Alan Bailey (Suzanne) and Richard Dunn Bailey (Kristi); grandchildren Jacob Harrison (Mollie), Madison Settle (Bryar), Caroline Bailey, Griffin Hansen (Joy), Sarah Turner (Brady), Harris Bailey and Julia Bailey; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Baylee and Wyatt Harrison and Graham Settle; and sister, Laurine Pugh (Albert).

He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Alba Bailey; his brother, Burrel “Junior” Bailey Jr.; and sister, Francis Coleman.

Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, May 27, 10 a.m., in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church of Jackson. A memorial service immediately following at 11, with Pastor Taylor Morgan officiating.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation be made in Jim’s name to First Presbyterian Church of Jackson.
