Glenn Dayton Gunter Jr., age 77, a resident of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022 in Mobile.

Mr. Gunter served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Viet Nam conflict. He served with the 4080th Strat-Recon Wing and was a specialist on U-2 reconnaissance planes. He was an industrial electrician by trade. Mr. Gunter was a patriot who loved his family and his country. He was a lifelong member of Rockville Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Glenn D. Gunter and Mildred Buckner Gunter; brother, Jerry Gunter; nephew, John Gunter; and mother- and father-in-law, Julia and Perry McClure.

Mr. Gunter is survived by his loving wife, Karen McClure Gunter; children, Krystal (Ry) Clifford and Glenn (Stacy) Gunter III; grandchildren, Kaitlin Gunter, Rian Busby, Riley Clifford, Brenna Clifford, Glenn Dayton Gunter IV and Houston Gunter; brother, Johnny Gunter; sister, Sheila (Stan) Wilson; brother-in-law, Eddie (Brenda) McClure; nieces, Ginger (Ralph) Ryser, Mitzi Gunter, Rachel (Jacob) Waterman and Nina (Josh) Smelley; nephews, Phillip (Morgan) Willingham and Kevin Gunter also survive him.

Visitation was Saturday, Oct. 29, from 12 until the funeral hour at 2 p.m., at Rockville Baptist Church in Jackson. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Services were directed by Radney Funeral Home in Mobile.

Pallbearers were Geary Williams, Wayne Wiggins, Phillip Willingham, Kevin Taylor, Ricky Merle Powell and Mirko Pezent. Honorary pallbearers included Bob Bowling, Champ Bowling, Ray Beech and Fred Pringle.
