Glenda Joy Dolbear,77, passed away peacefully Nov. 29, 2021. She was born and raised in Jackson. A member of First Baptist Church of Leroy, Glenda attended Mr. Joe Pace Palmers Sunday School class. She graduated from Jackson High School in 1962, and attended Faulkner University where she earned a Bachelor Degree in Social Work in 1995. Glenda was employed by the state of Alabama in human resources until retirement. Glenda enjoyed traveling, working in her yard and cooking. She loved her family and friends and will be missed.
She is survived by her son, Jason (Tara) Anderson of St. Stephens; daughters, Melissa (Robbin) McKee of Jackson, Dalita (Henry) Jackson of Millry and Emily Jones of Chickasaw; sisters, Betty Johnson of Millry, Aline Herrin, Ina (Tom) Williamson and Mary (John Butts) Dolbear, all of Mobile; 11 beautiful grandchildren and six beautiful great-grandchildren.
Preceded her in death was her grandson, Judson Reid; parents, Tollie Dolbear and Emmarene Milstead Dolbear; sisters, Reta McIntyre, Gayle Overton and Peggy Parker; and brothers, James Dolbear, John Dolbear and Donald Milstead.
A graveside service was held Friday, Dec. 3, 1 p.m., at Peniel Church Cemetery. Officiating the service was the Rev. David Delegal, with St. Stephens Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers included Caleb McKee, Jon Foster Reid, Craigan Jones, Eli Anderson, Hank Jackson and Chris Hayes.
