Fred Allen Motes, 85, of Coffeeville, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Washington County Nursing Home. He was born in Salitpa on Wednesday, July 29, 1936. He was a member of River Hill Baptist Church and a self-employed painter. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family .
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Motes and Ruby Hutchinson Motes; wife, Margie Woodard Motes; daughter, Gail Sullivan; and siblings, James Samuel Motes Jr., Alton Motes, Frank Motes and Eva Mae Hoven.
He is survived by his son, Keith (Candace) Motes; grandchildren, Hannah (Adam) Jackson, Adam (Kristy) Motes, Andy Motes and Dallas Motes; greatgrandchildren, Hunter Jackson, A.J. Jackson, Autumn Motes and Oakleigh Motes; brother, Thomas (Glenda) Motes; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 25, at River Hill Baptist Cemetery in Jackson, with the Rev. Renea Henderson officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing.
