Mr. Eddie Lee Spencer, age 85, a native of Camden and resident of the Fairford community of Calvert, was born April 5, 1936 to the parentage of the late Mr. Eddie Spencer and the late Mrs. Alberta Dortch Spencer. He departed this life Jan. 3, 2022 at Crowne Health Care of Citronelle.

Mr. Spencer was a member of Union Baptist Church of Fairford, where he served as a trustee. “Ed,” as he was affectionately known, enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching television. His favorite show was “Family Feud.”

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a sister, Hattie Mae Nettles.

He will be cherished in the hearts of his loving family, devoted wife of 63 years, Marie Hall Spencer of Fairford; one son, David Lee (LaTonia) Spencer of Birmingham; one daughter, Lisa (Marlon) Barney of Axis; five grandchildren, Tremaine (Tammy) Parks, Jermarious Spencer, Cornelius Spencer, all of Birmingham, Davida (Isaac) White of Alabaster and Kynedi, affectionately called “Papa’s Baby” Roberts of Axis; a host of great-grandchildren; four nephews, Willie (Earlean) Spencer of Mt. Vernon, Samuel Jones of Birmingham, Bruce (Sophia) Spencer of Vinegar Bend and Perry (Jamie) Spencer, all of Wagarville; three nieces, Tammara (Willie) Davis of Mt. Vernon, Ann Humes of Middletown, Pa., and niece and god-daughter, Sundra (Rev. Norman) Howard of McIntosh; one sister-in-law, Mable Barnes of Fairford; devoted friends, Arnold and Marsha Dennis of Bucks and Janice Roberts of Fairford; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Viewing was Saturday, Jan. 8, from 10:30 until the 11 a.m. graveside service, at Union Baptist Church Cemetery, Fairford Road, Fairford; the Rev. Charles Shipman was eulogist. The interment followed.

Facial masks were mandatory and social distancing implemented.

Services with sympathetic care and legendary professionalism have been entrusted to Andrews Funeral Home, 800 Depot Road, Jackson, AL.
