Earnest Charles McReynolds

Earnest Charles McReynolds, a resident of Jackson, better known to family and friends as “CMack,” made his earthly transition on May 10, 2022. He was born May 20, 1952 to Phares McReynolds Jr. and Francis Montgomery McReynolds.

Earnest joined Mt. Olive No. 2 Baptist Church in 1992. He loved to sing the Gospel and was one of the orbital members of the Jackson Male Chorus when it was first organized. He loved the Lord and people. He was a hardworking man who worked at a variety of jobs, including at a sawmill, construction, working on the boats, welding and as a cement finisher. He taught his sons, some of his grandsons, and many others how to become a cement finisher. During his spare time, he loved going fishing. On Jan. 12, 1974 Earnest married Carolyn Janice Simon and was blessed with a beautiful family.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Phares McReynolds, Jr. and Francis McReynolds Clarke; his stepfather, Edward Clarke; daughter, Monica House; grandchildren, Laquesha House, LaMarcus House, LaKeyta House and Juries Simon; and brothers, James McReynolds and Edward Clarke Jr.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Carolyn Janice Simon McReynolds of Jackson; three sons, Emashone (Tawanda) McReynolds and Earnest (Brandi) McReynolds Jr., both of Mobile, and Jerriel McReynolds of Jackson; seven daughters, Tangi Simon, Angie McReynolds and Carolyn J. McReynolds, all of Jackson, Latonya (Nathan) Brown of Calvert, Adriane (Mario) King of Pearl City, Hawaii, Shanika McReynolds of Montgomery and April (Willie) West of Jackson; 31 grandchildren and 19 greatgrandchildren; seven brothers, Larry McReynolds, Willie D. Clarke and Mark (Evangerlean) Clarke, all of Jackson, Mack Clarke of Foley, Matthew Clarke of Bay Minette, Delfany (Lisa) Clarke of Bessemer and Reginald (Rose) Clarke of Grove Hill; three sisters, Edith Tarrant of Midfield, Shelia King of Pascagoula, Miss., and Francis Clarke of Jackson; one brother-in-law, Bobby Simon of Pascagoula, Miss.; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Simon of Pascagoula, Miss. and Veronica Clarke of Jackson; with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and close friends, the Rev. Carl Martin, Luther Crowell, Jessie Williams, Alvin Jones, Deacon Allen Williams, Frank Richardson and Aaron Nix.

Public viewing will be Friday, May 20, from 2 until 6 p.m., at Jackson Memorial Funeral Home, 203 East Ross St., Jackson. Service will be Sunday, May 22, 2 p.m., at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church No. 1, 665 Evergreen Road, Jackson. The Rev. Vincent P. Crayton, pastor, and the Rev. Stevenson E. Tullis, eulogist. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

Final life celebration has been entrusted to Jackson Memorial Funeral Home.
