Today we remember the life of Dorothy.

Dorothy A. Laffitte-Finch, 72, a native of Gosport and a resident of Riverside, Calif., entered into God’s kingdom on April 3rd, 2023. She was born March 17, 1951 to Voncile and James Laffitte.

Dorothy was the most loving and devoted mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She met Christ at an early age and was a member of the Mackey Branch Church. She also attended Mackey Branch Elementary School and Junior High School. Her education was continued at Wilson Hall High School in Grove Hill, graduating in the Class of 1970.

Dorothy was kind, loving, strong, genuine, disciplined, honest and a blunt person. She had a voice you could never forget and had no problem telling it like it is, but also would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it.

Dorothy invested in the lives of her children, grandchildren and of everyone around her, just to make sure they lived a better life. She was a virtuous woman who stood like a great pillar for her children and other family members. Your life was well spent and you fulfilled the will of God.

Thank you for being the kind of Mom you were. You taught me to be diligent, hardworking and patient. I will always remember your teachings.

The Bible says the memory of the righteous is blessed. Mom, this is very true of you. We shared very pleasant memories of you because you truly lived a good life.

She leaves to cherish her memories with her daughter and son, LaRhonda and Jamaal; sisters, Linda, Alice, Jessie (Frank) Carrie and Bridget; brothers, Louis (Gloria), Lee (Linda) and John; grandkids, Shalonda, Breanna and James; great-grandkids, Zalon, Zuriel and Kniyha; and devoted friend, Gloria King-Cobb.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Barbara; and brothers, Henry, James and Henry Lee.

A private memorial service will be held.

A special thank you to all Dorothy’s family and friends. We truly feel blessed to have received all your loving words of encouragement.

Cards may be sent to LaRhonda Laffitte, PO Box 1086, Guasti, CA.
