Dora Dortch Blackmon

Dora Lee Dortch Blackmon, a resident of Monroeville, answered the Master’s call on Saturday, May 21, 2022, while at Mobile Infirmary. She was born on July 8, 1953 to Emma Lee Moye Dortch and Chester Dortch. She was a member of Wayman Chapel AME Church in Hybart.

Dora was a very quiet, loving, kind person who kept to herself, but enjoyed her grandchildren and being with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Joe D. Martin and Lindsay Moye; and her brother-in-law, Ezell Barnett.

Left to cherish her memories, is her devoted daughter, Temeaka Blackmon of Monroeville; two sons, Thomas (Akeidra) Blackmon of Monroeville and Henry (Phillis) Blackmon of Andalusia; 22 grandchildren, two devoted, Tierra Stewart and Thomas Blackmon Jr.; six great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Mary L. (Willie) Durgin of Hybart, Lillie Barnett of Mt. Olive, Miss., Alberta Henry and Annie Dortch, both of Rochester, N.Y., Martha Murphy of Vredenburgh, Brenda Bryd of Columbus, Ohio, and Clara McPherson of Monroeville; four brothers, Thomas (Francis) Dortch and Gary Dortch, both of Columbus, Ohio, Andrew Dortch of Monroeville and Gary (Jody) Dortch of Rochester, N.Y.; a daughter-in-law, Edna Rivers of Gulfport, Miss.; with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be Friday, May 27, from 1 until 4 p.m., at Bank Memorial Funeral Home, Monroeville; a graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 3 p.m., at Crosby Cemetery in Hybart.

Final life celebration has been entrusted to Jackson Memorial Funeral Home.
