Funeral services for Donald Glen “Donnie” Shepherd of Coffeeville were held at 12- noon, Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2022, at Phillips Funeral Home in Gilbertown, with Matthew Harper officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to the service. Interment followed in the Jones Chapel Cemetery in Coffeeville.

Mr. Shepherd was born Dec. 27, 1951 in Grove Hill to Earl Shepherd and Mary Golden Dungan Shepherd. He passed away Dec. 18, 2022 at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, Miss., at the age of 70.

Mr. Shepherd enjoyed family time, often cooking and grilling for family events. He liked a neat yard and loved cutting grass. He was an avid Alabama football fan. He worked as an E&I technician for Alabama River Pulp at Purdue Hill for many years. In general, Mr. Shepherd was a hardworking man.

He is survived by his wife, Denise H. Shepherd of Coffeeville; son, Scott Shepherd (Randi) of Tuscaloosa; daughters, Ashton Shepherd of Coffeeville and Tara Johnson (Terry) of Gilbertown; sisters, Janeice Desporte (Bubba) of Mobile, Janette Hamilton of Gautier, Miss., and Joan Courington (Jerry) of Coffeeville; grandchildren, Dani Thornburgh (Austin), Nathan Shepherd, Brody Shepherd, Charlie Shepherd, Brett Shepherd, James Cunningham, Raden Cunningham, Chloe Johnson, Abby Johnson, Shep Johnson, Brandon Harper, Kayla Cox, Matthew Harper, Madison Harper and Avaree Harper; and great-grandchildren, Ellie Thornburgh, Warren Thornburgh and Oaklynn Cox.

Preceding him in death is his son, Jeff Shepherd; father, Earl Shepherd; mother, Mary Golden Dungan Shepherd; and brothers, Dwayne Shepherd, Wilbur Shepherd and David Shepherd.

Serving as pallbearers were Ben Harper, Simeon Stringer, Austin Bumpers, J. P. Walker, Terry Johnson and James Cunningham.
