Don R. Pledger passed away April 26, 2018 at his Jackson residence surrounded by family and friends. He was born Dec. 29, 1946 to Margie and Raymond Pledger in Jackson; he was 71 years of age. A member of Stave Creek Baptist Church, he served the citizens of Jackson for 10 years with the police department and then worked 35 years with Huntsman Chemical. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents and son, Scott Hayes.
He is survived by his wife, Marcie “Katie” Pledger; children, Brien (Kim) Hayes and Kaye (Keith) Tarver; grandchildren, Carly Keith, Tyler Keith, Rodney Hayes, Cristin Wiggins and Thad Henderson; and great-grandchildren, Colton Henderson, Emma Henderson, Kyleigh Hayes, Jayden Hayes, Emma Kate Hayes and Draklyn Wiggins.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 28, at Stave Creek Baptist Church in Jackson, with the Rev. David Goldman and Dr. Andy Goode officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers were Johnny Skipworth, Jeff Green, Joe Milstead, Craig Anderson, Ethan Lankford and James Harrell. Honorary pallbearers included Tom Taylor, Alexander Radcliff, Mac Henley, Charles Burge, Dale Coulter, Kenny Smith, Marlon Cranford and Grover Loper.
