Library offers

‘Get Internet To Go’

Wi-Fi hotspots are now available for check out at the White Smith Memorial Library in Jackson.

Hotspots are portable devices that allow users to connect to the Internet using a computer, smartphone, tablet or other wireless device. Their small size allows them to be taken anywhere and will let you access the Internet wherever you are.

Available for one-week loans to patrons in good standing ages 19 and up, there is a limit of one per household per loan period. Children under 19 can connect to a hotspot checked out to their parent or legal guardian.

Employment help for veterans available

If you are a veteran and need employment assistance, the Jackson Career Center can help. The Veteran Services team members are veterans themselves and understand the challenges of civilian transitioning.

Marion Harrison, retired from the United States Air Force, is the Local Veterans/ Disabled Veterans Representative.

Al-anon meets

Tuesdaysat St. Peter’s

Al-anon of South Alabama meets at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 200 Hospital Dr. in Jackson every Tuesday evening at 6:30. This is open to anyone that has a family member or close friend that is dealing with addiction. It is a confidential meeting to discuss the difficulties of having a loved one that is struggling with addiction.

Social assistance at Salvation Army

The Salvation Army Social Service office is open on Wednesdays from 9-11 a.m. and 2-4 p.m. When in need of assistance with food and a variety of other needs, the office attempts to assist where they can. For additional information call 246-5693.

VFW meets monthly

The VFW on Club Wiley Road in Jackson meets the third Saturday of each month at 11 a.m.
