Historic Black settlements in south Alabama will be the topic of the Clarke County Historical Society meeting Sunday, July 30, 2:30 pm at Grove Hill City Hall.

The speaker, Justin Rudder, is the digital asset archivist at the Alabama Department of Archives and History.

Mr. Rudder’s presentation will focus on the development of cartography from Black perspectives of community — including internal understanding of Black settlements often known as “the bottoms” or “the quarters.”

The public is invited to attend.

This program is being presented through the Alabama Humanities Alliance Road Scholar program. The AHA is a state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH).
