The Jackson High School Aggies basketball team won Monday, Jan. 24 at home against Chickasaw High School 73-47. The Aggies improve to 12-6 on the season and are 8-2 in their last 10 games.
Jackson jumped out to an early lead and led 12-11 at the end of the first period. In the second period the Aggies hammered Chickasaw outscoring them 27-13, carrying a 39-29 lead into halftime. James Jackson had the hot hand, scoring 10 of his 14 points in the second period.
The Aggies continued to hammer Chickasaw, besting them 28-16 in the third period and carried a 67-40 lead into the fourth period. Jamarion Sampson stepped up, scoring seven of his 13 points in the third period.
Mostly subs played in the fourth period for Jackson as they won 73-47.
For Jackson, James Jackson had 14 points, Sampson had 13, Micah Jones had 11 and Micah Caster had 10.
The Lady Aggies did not play on Monday night because
Chickasaw does not have a girls varsity basketball team.
The JHS boys and girls will have to win both area games this week against Wilcox Central High School on Wednesday at home and Sumter Central High School at home on Friday, to force a coin toss to determine who will host the area tournament.
Jackson played at home on Wednesday, Jan. 26 against Wilcox Central at 4:30 p.m. and will host Sumter Central on Friday, Jan. 28 at 4:30 p.m.
