On March 23, at approximately 6 a.m., the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an overturned burgundy GMC Yukon on Morning Star Road near Millport Road. Grove Hill Volunteer Fire Department, Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department and ASAP EMS arrived at the location to remove the driver that was partially ejected and entrapped under the vehicle. Traffic Homicide Investigator Kenneth Kelley and Deputy John Knapp investigated the crash. It was determined that the vehicle was traveling north on Morning Star Road at a speed greater than the posted speed limit in foggy weather. The vehicle experienced a blowout of the left rear tire, which caused the rear of the vehicle to spin out of control. The driver of the SUV overcorrected steering which caused the SUV to leave the road, strike a tree, and overturn on its left side. The driver, identified as Deandra Taylor, was pronounced deceased on scene by Clarke County Coroner Matthew Milstead.
