12-year-old All-Stars win district

11-year-olds in state tournament

The Jackson 12-year-old All-Stars won the District 3 Little League championship last week in Jackson. The team now advances to Phenix City this weekend to play for the state championship.

The All-Stars were undefeated during the tournament beating Monroe and South Monroe twice to claim the title.

“We are hitting the ball really well right now,” said Coach Tim Windham. “Our pitching is outstand. We need to play better defensively to win state.”

In All-Star district play:

Jackson 21, Monroe 7

In game one, Jackson jumped on Monroe early with 11 runs in the first inning. Dylan Thomas and DJ Powell both had three-run home runs while Nike Jackson added a home run and two doubles to lead the offense. Richard Skipper had two hits; and Mathew Windham, EJ Jackson and Elijah Webb also contributed a hit.

Jackson 17, South Monroe 0

The Jackson All-Stars scored 12 runs in the fifth inning to blow open a close game 2 and cruise to an easy 17-0 victory over South Monroe. JD Barnes hit two home runs and Elijah Webb added another home run to pace the offense. DJ Powell had two doubles and a triple; Nike Jackson added two doubles; Skipper and Windham had two hits each; Jay Kinman had a double; while Kie Steed, Chipper Tucker, Thomas and Webb added singles for the Jackson All-Stars. Skipper and Webb combined on the mound to limit South Monroe to a pair of singles.

Jackson 14, South Monroe 2

Jackson combined for 16 hits total while limiting South Monroe to a single hit in a 14- 2 victory in the championship game. Mathew Windham led the All-Stars with four hits including a double; Barnes and Thomas added home runs; EJ Jackson, Kinman and Powell had two hits each; Nike Jackson, Nehemiah Pritchett, along with Webb and Skipper had one hit each. Webb, Kinman and Windham combined on the mound to limit South Monroe to one hit and only one earned run.

The All-Stars will travel to Phenix City this weekend to compete for the state title. The team would like to thank all the people that have made donations or bought raffle tickets to help support their trip this weekend.
