Jackson Police participting in ‘Click It or Ticket’ campaign



Nine grants, totaling $250,000, were recently awarded through the office of Gov. Robert Bentley to assist law enforcement officers in making Alabama roadways safer during the week before and after Memorial Day. Memorial Day observance



The public is invited to attend a Memorial Day ceremony Monday, May 28 at 10 a.m., at the War Memorial located on the grounds of Jackson’s James E. Arrington City Hall Complex. The ceremony is being conducted in conjunction with VFW Post 5355. City, county, state and federal offices will be closed that day for the national holiday.

One-month reserve issue at WashCo School Board meeting




The State Department of Education has mandated Alabama school systems to hold in reserve one-month operating funds and in these lean economic times, many are hard-pressed to comply.
