George Thomas Dumas

George Thomas “Tommy” Dumas, age 74, a native of Grove Hill, died May 3, 2012. He was born March 4, 1938.

A devoted husband and father, Mr. Dumas was a graduate of Clarke County High School, a member of Union Baptist Church and a retiree of Weyerhaeuser Co.

Preceding him in death were his mother, Etta Goodwin Dumas; his father, Woodrow W. Dumas; and brother, Royce D. Dumas.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Sutton Dumas; four children, Thomas “Wayne” (Robyn) Dumas, Yvette Dumas (Odell) McGhee, Mary Guy (James) Reaves and Ramona Guy (Brent) Robinson; one brother, Woodrow (Pauline) Dumas; one sister, Maxine D. Larsen; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and one aunt, Clarice Gates.

Funeral services were at Union Baptist Church on Saturday, May 5. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill.

Pallbearers were James Reaves, Brent Robinson, Eddie Flint, Terry Simpson, Craig Hare and Grady Kilpatrick. Honorary pallbearers included Odell McGhee and the Union Baptist Church Adult Men’s Sunday School Class.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Union Baptist Church Building Fund, 1547 Allen Walker Road, Grove Hill, AL 36451.
