Fritz Eugene Schell III

Fritz Eugene Schell III passed away Feb. 8, 2012 in Chatom. Mr. Schell, born Aug. 16, 1960, was 51 years of age at the time of his death.

A graduate of Washington County High School in the Class of 1978, he continued his education receiving a Bachelor of Arts in history and a Juris Doctor at the University of Alabama. He was licensed to the Alabama State Bar in 1990, and received a Master of Public and Private Management from Yale University in New Haven, Conn., in 1995.

Mr. Schell was active in Youth Government; Alabama Men’s Honors Society, the Mallet Assembly; Alabama Law Foundation; U.S.A.F. Civil Air Patrol; Squadron Legal Officer, Captain’s rank; honorary Lt. Colonel in the Alabama State Militia; Alabama Boy’s State; Presidential Classroom for Young Americans; Hall of Fame Washington High School Band; National Honor Society;

Distinguished American High School Students; manager Southeastern Regional Environmental Law Compendium; publicity chairman, law school homecoming; treasurer, Environmental Law Society; senior editor, law and choreography; Red Cross blood drives; W. Somerset Maugham Society; Young Republicans; chairman, Urban Renewal Committee; Maxwell’s Crossing; Mallet Players and Friends of the Washington County Public Library.

Funeral services were Feb. 10 at Chatom Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim O’Neal officiating. Interment was in the Chatom Cemetery under the direction of Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom.

Pallbearers were Wiley Schell, Milton Schell, Larry Hubbard, Carl Craig, Steven Grimes, Andy Williams, Patrick Schell and Alex Schell.
