Gary Michael Turner

Gary Michael Turner, age 76, was born Feb. 21, 1935 and passed away Monday, Jan. 23, 2012 at his St. Stephens residence. Mr. Turner was a native of Gadsden.

He retired from GM Motors, a member of the board of directors, and as a selfemployed sandblaster and painter. A veteran of the United States Navy, he served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Jackson Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion in Thomasville.

Mr. Turner is survived by his wife, Jenese A. Turner of St. Stephens; a son, Thomas E. (Marie) Powell Jr. of St. Stephens; four grandchildren, Marcus Lee (Angela) Powell Sr. of Savannah, Ga.,

Amber (Barkley) Williams of Laton Hill, Ashley Powell and Leah Powell, both of St. Stephens; great-grandchildren, Riley Powell and Marcus Lee Powell Jr., both of Savannah; on sister, Patricia (Doug) Johns of Mobile; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 27, from 10 until the 11 a.m. in the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom with the Rev. Billy Burtt officiating. Military graveside services will be in the Jones- Beech Cemetery in Hobson.

Pallbearers will be Tom Powell, Tim Coker, Chuck Roberts, Robert Kay, Frank Powell and Vincent Anderson.
