Lister Blackmon

Lister “Donie” Blackmon, age 70, was born Sept. 4, 1941 in Demopolis and passed away Jan. 13, 2012 at Jackson Medical Center. A resident of St. Stephens, he was a painter by trade.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jean Blackmon of St. Stephens; two sons, David Jason (Amanda) Blackmon of Tibbie and Greg (Kim) Tarver of Clanton; four daughters, Linda (Barry) Simpson of Ledbetter, Ky., Holly (Christopher) Johnson of Jackson, Donna (Danny) Sanders of Irvington and Debra (Kelvin) Coker of St. Stephens; two sisters, Ann Thomas of Jackson and Elsie Sullivan of Oregon; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Randy Tarver.

Funeral services were Jan. 16 in the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home with the Revs. David Webb and Lamar Chapman officiating. Interment was in the Clearwater Cemetery in Wagarville.

Pallbearers were Channen Powell, Kenneth Cunningham, Chris Cunningham, Alton Powell, Larry Cunningham, Jason Cunningham, Justin Smith and Barry Simpson. Honorary pallbearers included Carol Spence, Jake Foster, Moosie Foster and Ed Hayes.
