Culvain Preston McIntyre
Culvain Preston McIntyre, age 85, was born July 5, 1926 and passed away July 21, 2011 at Providence Hospital in Mobile. Mr. McIntyre was a native of Clarke County and a resident of the Pleasant Grove community.
Mr. McIntyre was a retired welder from ADDSCO. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, a Mason with the Coffeeville Masonic Lodge and Frankville Lodge-W.N. Reynolds No. 900, and a charter member of the Clarke County Sheriff’s Department Posse. He served in the United States Navy during WWII.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred McIntyre of Jackson; son, Jimmy Lee (Jacque) McIntyre of Tuscaloosa; two daughters, Elaine Sheffield of Chickasaw and Sarah Pugh of Jackson; sister, Lois Baugh of Wetumpka; and five grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Preston M. and Claire Olivia L. McIntyre; sisters, Bessie Gibbs and Janie Stokley; and one brother, Roy McIntyre.
Funeral services were Sunday, July 24, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in the Winn community, with the Rev. Johnny Gillis officiating. Interment was in the Griffin Family Cemetery in the Pleasant Grove community, with Masonic graveside honors, under the direction of Lathan Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Joseph McIntyre, James Pugh, Albert Stokley Jr., William Coleman Wilkerson Jr., Laurie Roberts and Ronald Lee. Honorary pallbearers were the members of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
