Cecil E. Jernigan, 68, was born Feb. 6, 1943 in Fairhope and died April 16, 2011 at Jackson Medical Center. A resident of Grove Hill, Mr. Jernigan served in the United States National Guard and worked as an offshore cook.

Mr. Jernigan is survived by his wife, Dorothy Jernigan of Jackson; sons, Loran Jernigan of Seminole and Johnny Jernigan of Summerdale; stepsons, Charles Robinson of Fairhope and Darrell Robinson of Bay Minette; stepdaughters, Renee McKinney of Robertsdale and Peggy Overton of Grove Hill; brother, Mike Jernigan of Brookhaven, Miss.; and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral services were April 18 at the Church of God of Prophecy in Grove Hill, followed by interment in the Asbury Cemetery in Grove Hill under the direction of Lathan Funeral Home of Grove Hill.
