Verna Louise T. Parnell, 82, died Aug. 31, 2010 in the Washington County Nursing Home in Chatom. She was a member of the Springhill Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Dennis Parnell of Santa Fe, Texas, Michael Parnell of Porter, Texas, Larry Parnell of Houston, Texas and Tommy Parnell of St. Stephens; four daughters, Dianne Harwell and Louise Flint, both of Chatom, Brenda Conley and Marcelyn Burt, both of Houston and 14 grandchildren and numerous greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services were Sept. 3 in the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home in Chatom with the Rev. Kenneth Henson officiating. Interment was in the Fairhope Baptist Cemetery in Chatom.
