William Floyd Etheridge
William Floyd Etheridge, a native of Marengo County and a resident of Grove Hill, died Aug. 13, 2010 at 77 years of age at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Thomasville. Mr. Etheridge was a heavy equipment operator with Scott Paper Company and a member of the Grove Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Etheridge of Grove Hill; two sons, Scott Etheridge of Nashville, Tenn. and Bruce Etheridge of Grove Hill; one daughter, Sherry Vittor of Mobile; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
His sister, Lillie Mae Etheridge, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were Aug. 15 at the Grove Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Lee Merck officiating. Interment was in the Magnolia Lawn Cemetery in Grove Hill under the direction of Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill.
Active pallbearers were Justin Etheridge, Dalton Jackson, DeWayne Nichols, Benjamin Moore, Bobby Moore, Barry Vittor, Jeff Champion and Adam Etheridge. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the V.F.W. No. 5106.
