Jason Kemp

Jason “Big Neck” Kemp, 30, a native and resident of Gainestown, died July 3, 2010 at Jackson Medical Center. He was the son of Jessie Hunt Kemp of Gainestown and the late Joseph Kemp.

Mr. Kemp was a member of the Antioch African Methodist Episcopal Church and enjoyed listening to gospel singer Lee Williams. The oldest of triplets, he was said to be big-hearted, lovable and always had a smile. He was an ardent fan of “The Young and The Restless”; and was the community “news reporter”, keeping the family up-todate on all the happenings.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Kemp, and sister, Joyce Marie Kemp.

Survivors include his mother; four sisters, Helen (Samuel) Rankin, Ethel (Elvin) Whittaker, Melissa Hunt and Debbie Hunt, all of Gainestown; two brothers, James Earl Hunt and Justin Kemp, both of Gainestown. He will be sorely missed by the entire Hunt and Kemp families.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Kemp, and a sister, Joyce Marie Kemp.

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 10, 11 a.m., at Antioch African Methodist Episcopal Church in Gainestown with the Rev. Amos Smith, pastor, and the Rev. Jessie Rivers will be the eulogist. Viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home of Jackson.

Following interment, the family will receive friends in the Rev. Thomas Fox Sr. Fellowship Hall of the church.
