Kenneth R. “Sam” Waddell, 73, died May 20, 2010 at the Washington County Nursing Home. A native of Alabama and resident of Millry, Mr. Waddell served in the U.S. National Guard and worked as a warehouseman for National Foods in New Orleans, La., for many years. His hobbies were catfishing and working in his yard.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Waddell of Millry; one son, David (Tammy) Gardner of Millry; two brothers, C.J. Waddell of Metairie, La., and George (Bernice) Waddell of Biloxi, Miss.; two sisters, Janice Morrison of Biloxi and Mary Helen Byrd of Spanish Fort; and one grandchild, Alex Gardner.

Funeral services were May 22 at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Millry with the Rev. Ernest Tucker officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery under the direction of St. Stephens Funeral Home of St. Stephens.

Pallbearers were Danny Joe Gardner, Frankie Gardner, Bobby Joe Gardner, Don Brown, David Allen and Wiley Middleton.
