Robert Lynford Howell

Robert Lynford Howell, 80, a native and lifelong resident of Jackson, died April 1, 2010 at his home. A Sr. Master Sgt. in the U.S. Air Force, he served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War before retiring from the military in 1969. Mr. Howell was a retired technical service representative with Boise Cascade and a member of the First United Methodist church in Jackson.
Survivors include two daughters, Lynda H. (Pete) Presnall of Whatley and Renee H. (Phillip) Presley of Jackson; three brothers, Raymond P. Howell of Mobile, James G. Howell of Jackson and Jack L. Howell of Birmingham; three sisters, Sandra Banks of Mobile, and Ann Tarleton and Joyce Homan, both of Tuscaloosa; two grandchildren, Rebecca Rodriguez of Jackson and Amanda Jordan of Atlanta, Ga.; four great-grandchildren, Matthew Rodriguez and Lauren Rodriguez, both of Jackson, and Dylan Jordan and Daniel Jordan, both of Atlanta; and special friend and caregiver, Frances Davis.
Preceding him in death were his wife of 50 years, Evelyn S. Howell; Parents, Ethel and Tommy Howell; and brother, Tommy Howell Jr.
The family will receive friends at Mr. Howell’s residence at 426 West Clinton St. in Jackson, Saturday, April 3, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. A graveside service will follow at 4 p.m. at Trinity Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jim DuFriend officiating and under the direction of Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson.
Active pallbearers will be Oscar Rodriguez, Dale Jordan, Matthew Rodriguez, James Robert Howell, Stan Wilson and Tyler Clark. Honorary pallbearers include Joe Brown and Chuck Webber.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Jackson Fire Department or Pilots for Christ.
