Beatrice Davis Coats

Beatrice Davis Coats, died March 27, 2010 at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. She was 56 years of age at the time of her death. One of 11 children, she is the daughter of Jessie Lee Davis of Whatley and the late Richard Davis.

A member of Mackey Branch No. 2 Baptist Church of Whatley, she served on the usher’s board for many years. Mrs. Coats was a graduate of Clarke County High School in Grove Hill, a former employee of B&F Farm Supply for 21 years, an employee of the Clarke County Board of Education and served as a child nutritional specialist. She retired in 2004 due to health conditions.

Along with her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Bro. Woodie Coats of Grove Hill; three devoted sons, Michael (Pamela) Davis, Kendrick (Talana) Davis and Shelton Coats, all of Manassas, Va.; a loving and devoted mother; three brothers, George Davis of Tunnel Springs, Curtis (Barbara) Davis of St. Stephens and Maurice (Lisa) Davis of Whatley; seven sisters, Evelyn (Rev. Clayton) Davis, Vivian (Joseph) Cowan, Comelethia Davis, Katina Davis and Mattie Lou Davis, all of Whatley, Gwendolyn (Lloyd) Knight of Wainwright and Dianne Abram of Alberta; and two grandchildren, Tysheera Davis and Aleshia Davis of Manassas; 10 aunts, nine uncles, three sisters-inlaw, four brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; devoted friend, Taneshia Jones; and special friends, Bertha Davis, Joe Alice Robinson and Mertis Dreading.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 4. Viewing is 11 a.m. until the funeral hour of 12 at Mackey Branch No. 2 Baptist Church in Gosport. Interment will follow in the Mackey Branch No. 1 Cemetery in Gosport with Jackson Memorial Funeral Home of Jackson directing.
