First Baptist and City of Jackson will host Thanksgiving meal
In an expression of “thanksgiving” and “sharing”, the First Baptist Church of Jackson and the city of Jackson are hosting a Thanksgiving meal on Saturday, Nov. 21, 4-6 p.m. (or until food runs out) at the Old Jackson Fire Station.
This communitywide meal is free of charge.
Upward Soccer returning
Registration is underway for boys and girls in 5K-6th grade. Registration forms are available at the following locations: Pic-N-Sav, Family Medical of Jackson and Jackson Academy. Early registration ends Nov. 16, deadline will be Nov. 30.
CCERA meets today
The Clarke County Education Retirees Association is meeting today (Thursday, Nov. 19), 11:45 a.m., at New Faith Baptist Church in Coffeeville. The program is focusing on crime protection. All members and potential members are urged to attend.
Hostesses are Faye Cotton, Janice Cox, Kathleen Dunagan, Grace Dunigan, Lummie Dunigan and Lyndal Scruggs.
JA 26th annual $10,000 drawing

H1N1 vaccines available Monday
There will be an H1N1 Vaccination Clinic Monday, Nov. 23 at the Clarke County Health Department, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., or until all vaccine has been administered. The health department may be contacted at 251-275-3772.
Limited quantities of this vaccine will be available to the following groups: Pregnant women; household and caregiver contacts of children younger than 6 months of age (parents, siblings and child care providers); health care and emergency medical services personnel; persons from 6 months through 24 years of age; individuals ages 25 through 64 years with medical conditions associated with a higher risk of flu complications (such as asthma, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, HIV and certain types of arthritis).
‘Cuties for Canines’
Cuties for Canines is a group of individuals who want to help animals have comfortable lives. There will be a meeting at the Clarke County Arc, 501 Forest Ave., Jackson, Nov. 23 at 1:30 p.m.
At this meeting the expansion of the group will be discussed. Those interested in helping local animals are asked to attend. For additional information call Trista Walker, 246-3000.
Coffee with Sylvia will be Nov. 26
The Women’s Business Center, Inc., will present simple steps to maximize productivity during the work day. Coffee with Sylvia will be Thursday, Nov. 26, 10-11 a.m. at the Southwest Alabama Chamber of Commerce, 138 Wilson Ave., Thomasville.

Lewis and McLain being featured at First Baptist Leroy
Georgiann Lewis and Amanda McLain will be featured in an evening of holiday and praise music at First Baptist Church in Leroy, Sunday, Nov. 29 at 6 p.m. They will play selections on the piano, organ and flute.
A reception will follow in the activities building. All are welcome.
Raffle / BBQ will support ‘A Secret Safe Place for Newborns’
A James Bonds charity raffle and barbecue will be Monday, Nov. 30 at 12 noon in the Clarke County Courthouse Square to benefit “A Secret Safe Place for Newborns”. The barbecue plates will include Conecuh sausage, baked beans, chips, dessert and bottles of water for $6.

RSVP holiday luncheon
The annual RSVP holiday luncheon will be at the Coffeeville Nutrition Center, 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 1. All are requested to bring a covered dish and a small gift to play “Dirty Santa”. Come and bring a friend.
Mobile Symphony to perform at Thomasville Civic Center
Monday, Dec. 14,, at 7 p.m. the Mobile Symphony will perform at the Bedsole Auditorium in the Thomasville Civic Center. Tickets are on sale now for $20 each at Thomasville City Hall, or call 334- 636-5827 for reservations. Tickets are selling very quickly.
‘Get Your Groove Back’ fund-raiser for Sickle Cell
The Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Mobile Chapter, Inc. is selling chances to win a 3-5 day Western Caribbean cruise for two. Tickets are $25 and will be on sale through Dec. 16 when the winner will be announced. The cruise is valid through December of 2010. Donations are tax-deductible.
