Frankville VFD announces fund-raiser

Ronny Courtney, Frankville's 1st responder and an avid fireman, recently underwent lifethreatening emergency surgery. With his spleen removed and liver damaged, he received more than 10 units of blood during the procedure. Unfortunately, he has no insurance and the bills are skyrocketing.

"Ronny and his wife Dawn, have been a tremendous asset to the Frankville Fire Department," said a spokesman for the department. Recently, they coordinated a function that raised enough money for a neighbor who also had no insurance. Having recently moved to Bigbee from Mobile, they have made numerous contributions to the community including the benefit trail rides held in the area. They are the first to lend a hand to anyone in need.

Now it's time to give them a hand. On Saturday, Oct. 31, Auburn will play Old Miss. Four football tickets, in a prime area of the stadium - midway up and close to the press box where the eagle may fly from, have been donated to be raffled off. The package includes a free parking pass, buffet, snacks and beverages during the game, programs and other novelties.

Firemen are the first on the scene in your time of need; it would be appreciated for one of them to receive your help now. Local firemen throughout Washington County will be selling raffle tickets at $20 per ticket. The drawing will be Monday, Oct. 19, at the Frankville Fire Station at 6:30 p.m. The winner will be notified. You do not have to be present to win.

For additional information call Frankville's VFD secretary, Nancy Stewart, 251-846-3590. As Ronny and Dawn have said, "Words will never express our thanks and gratitude." The Frankville Volunteer Fire Department also expressed thanks thanks to Edith Wilcox and Susan Turner who generously donated this package.
