The United Way Clarke County Campaign kickoff event will be tonight (Thursday) 5:30-8 p.m. at the H.W. Pearce Memorial Park Assembly House.

The theme for this year is "Clarke County - A Community Living United." The event is open to the public and there will be free refreshments, fun activities for adults and children, and a chance for everyone to meet representatives from the 22 partner agencies who receive funding from the United Way Clarke County Campaign. Also, an Earned Income Tax Credit and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program will be presented by the Community Foundation and the Community Action Agency.

Door prizes will be drawn from entries earned by visiting each of the partner agency booths. The night's activities are provided by United Way's corporate sponsors and the participating partner agencies.

This year's campaign goal is $145,000 and the campaign begins with tonight's kickoff and will conclude in early November.
