Lenzy "Coon" Martin Sr., a resident of Jackson, died Aug. 19, 2009 at the Jackson Medical Center. Martin was 100 years of age. The son of the late Selena and Lorenzo Martin, he married Cora Davis Martin and following her death was united with Lottie Martin. He was a member of the Vernon Chapel Baptist Church of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by four sons, Lenzy Martin Jr., Carlie Martin, Nathaniel Martin and Saul Martin; two daughters, Alvistene Gamble and Rudy Carter; five brothers, Thelma Martin, Mack Martin Sr., J.E. Martin, Cleo Martin and Carlie Martin; and one sister, Wynette Chapman.

Survivors include four daughters, Emma Mae Craig of Pasadena, Calif., Pearlie Mae Hunt of Fairhope, Catherine (Richard) Jackson of Jackson and Valerie (Al) McMillian of Detroit, Mich.; two sons, James "Sonny" Johnson and Nathan (Linda Faye) Martin, both of Jackson; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 29, at 12 noon at the Vernon Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Brian Chapman, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the Martin cemetery under the direction of Jackson Memorial Funeral Home in Jackson.
