Jackson police investigating forged prescription passed at Mac's Drugs
The Jackson Police Department is investigating a forged or altered prescription that was passed at Mac's Drugs in Jackson recently.
The prescription was for Lortab, Chief Charles Burge explained.
Burge said police have a suspect but no arrest has been made.
Jackson police officers arrested Robin Timothy Roberts, 47, of Jackson Aug. 23 and charged him with possession of marijuana, second degree.
Roberts was stopped on a traffic violation on Highway 43 for having a switched tag. After the stop officers found probable cause to search his vehicle and found a marijuana joint in a cigarette package.
Roberts was also found to have a prior felony conviction and was in possession of a firearm in violation of federal law. That information was relayed to the federal Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) agents, Burge said.
Burge said Jackson police are participating in the statewide "Click It or Ticket" campaign to encourage the use of seatbelts over the Labor Day holiday and to enforce other traffic laws.
The chief said Jackson police will be especially watchful for drunken driving.
Roadblocks were held this past weekend and will be again at different locations in the police jurisdiction on Aug. 28, Sept. 5 and Sept. 7.
Additional officers will be enlisted to help with the roadblocks and extra patrolling. Burge said it was all an effort to make for a safer Labor Day holiday.
