All-stars advance to state tourney

(Photo by Gary Horton) The Grove Hill/Jackson Allstars swept all three games at the district tournament in Mobile last weekend, earning a spot in the state tournament in Thomasville this weekend.
In the opener, GH beat host Westside 12-0 as Windham Jackson connected on a walk-off grand slam homer to seal the victory.
Josh Kimbell went 4-for-4 and scored four runs. Dustyn Moseley had a two-run single. Tyler Hutto and Kasey Garrick each added a hit. Jacob Horton had a sacrifice fly RBI.
Zack Watford handcuffed the Westside batters as he allowed just four hits, fanned two and walked none in the five inning, 10-run rule shortened game.
In the second game on Saturday Grove Hill beat Saraland 13-1 in six innings.
Brady Reeves allowed one run on two hits and struck out three. He did not walk any batters.
Kimbell had a double and three runs. Garrick had two runs, one hit and a sac fly.
Will Wiggins had two hits, scored two runs and added three RBIs. Moseley andWatford each had a single and a run. Hunter Kelley had two hits. Tyrell Kinder added a run and a hit.
The Grove Hill All-Stars clinched the tourney title on Sunday as they beat Westside 8-1.
J. Horton got the win as he pitched the complete game, striking out eight batters, walking none, but did hit four batters.
Kimbell was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs. Jackson had a triple, a single and scored three runs. Wiggins added two RBIs. Garrick was 2-for-3 with a double. Watford had a 2-RBI single. In the three games, the pitchers did not issue one single walk.
