Emmett Price McMillan

"Mac" Emmett Price McMillan, 85, died May 22, 2009 at his Fulton residence. A native of Greenwood, Miss., he served as a technical sergeant in the 882 Bombardment Squadron in the United States Air Force in WWII and was a forester for Scotch Lumber Company. He was a member of the Grove Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine Thompkins McMillan of Fulton; five daughters, Brenda (Roy) Schell of Sunflower, Vicki (Richard) Duke of Palatka, Fla., Tina (Howard) Burkhart of Benicia, Calif., Cindy McMillan of Chickasaw and Janet (Craig) Scruggs of Jackson; two sisters, Kitty (Joe) Griffin of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Millie Hicks of Little Rock, Ark.; nine grandchildren, Zachary (Christina) Duke, Ash (Denise) Duke, Pam Wiggins, April (Brian) Blackledge, Thomas (Lindsay) Wiggins, Nathan Burkhart, Victoria Burkhart, Summer Scruggs and Cailey Scruggs; and great-grandchild, Kyler Blackledge.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Laverne McMillan of Fulton.

Visitation will be Friday, May 29, 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at 12 noon, at Fulton Baptist Church. Dr. Howard Burkhart and the Rev. Lee Merck will officiate. Interment will follow in the Henley Cemetery in Fulton with full military honors with the Citronelle American Legion at graveside under the direction of Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Mac's caregivers and the Scotch Lumber Comopany Forestry Department.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alabama Forestry Museum, c/o Clarke County Historical Society, 122 West Cobb Street, Grove Hill, AL 36451.
