Ad valorem tax deadline is Dec. 31

Clarke County Revenue Commissioner Chris Beverly reminds property owners that Dec. 31, 2008 is the deadline to pay ad valorem taxes. You may avoid the lines at the courthouse if you pay by mail. All payments by mail received with a postmark on or before Dec. 31st will not be charged late penalties. December 31, 2008 is also the deadline for making new applications for homestead exemptions and current use, and also to file returns for business personal property.

Alzheimer's/Caregivers Support Group to meet

The "Caring Angels Hospice" will be featured at the Alzheimer's/Caregivers Support Group meeting Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1 p.m. at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. The group will meet in the hospital conference room.

2008 Holiday Cookbooks available

The Alabama Cooperative Extension System has the 2008 Holiday Cookbooks available and may be picked up at 120 Court Street in Grove Hill.

Social assistance on Wednesdays at Salvation Army

The Salvation Army Social Service office is open on Wednesdays from 9-11 a.m. and 2-4 p.m. When in need of assistance with food and a variety of other needs, the office attempts to assist where they can. For additional information call 246-5693.

Narcotics Anonymous will be meeting Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m., First Presbyterian Church, 302 E. Church St., Jackson.

Alcoholics Anonymous meetings

Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are conducted in the fellowship hall of Visitation Catholic Church, West Clinton Street in Jackson Wednesdays, 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m.

Diabetes Classes
