The No. 1 Leroy Bears remained undefeated (6-0, 4-0) with a 41-14 victory over the Excel Panthers in a game that matched up two undefeated 2A Region 1 opponents.

Leroy wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, taking their first offensive possession 68 yards in five plays to pay dirt. Jarette Davis capped the drive with a 1-yard touchdown run to put Leroy up 7-0 with 8:51 to go in the opening period.

After the Leroy defense stuffed the Panther offense, the Bears took over at their 36-yard line. Three plays later, Micahel Bracy sprinted in from 35 yards out to put Leroy up 14-0 with 4:29 to go in the first quarter.

The score remained that way until Excel's Josh Mack hit A. Williams for a 4-yard TD pass to cut the lead to 14-7 with 2:59 to go in the first half.

Leroy had a quick answer to the Excel score, with Clint Moseley hitting Sammie Coates for a 41-yard TD strike to end the first half with the Bears on top 21-7.

LHS received the ball first in the second half, and on second down Moseley found Coates again for a TD, this time covering 51 yards. Coates had two receptions for 92 yards and two touchdowns in the game.

Jarette Davis picked off a Mack pass on the Panthers' ensuing possession and raced 40 yards leaving the Bears deep in Excel territory. Moseley ran in from 4 yards out three plays later to blow the game open at 35-7.

Greg Hollinger hauled in a 16-yard TD pass with 4:30 left in the third to cut the score to 35-14 heading into the final period.

Moseley hooked up with Aerik Davis for a 45-yard TD stirke with 9:45 left in the game for the final score of the game. Chet Elmore kicked the PAT to give the final score of 41-14.

Moseley finished the night 11-16 passing for 265 yards and three touchdowns while connecting with seven different receivers in the game. He also added 60 yards and a TD on the ground. Phillip Ervin had 75 yards on four receptions. Bracy had 68 yards and a touchdown on three carries to lead the Bears rushing attack and added an interception on defense.

Leroy held the Panthers to 173 total yards while racking up 478 on offense.

The Bears host the Southern Choctaw Indians Friday night at Palmer Stadium at 7.
