Chapman confirmed as Millry mayor's race winner

Las t week The South Alabamian reported that Millry Mayor Roy Chapman had won re-election over challenger and former mayor Frank "Pete" Dearmon.

That was before the counting of provisional and absentee ballots, which took place Tuesday, Sept. 2. Chapman still retained his lead by collecting a total of 141 votes to Dearmon's 126. The Aug. 26 election day count was 125-121.

Tuesday, five of the nine provisional ballots, were determined valid. Chapman collected three to Dearmon's two of those.

Of the absentee ballots cast, 13 were for Chapman and three were for Dearmon.
